Improvement projects underway range from expanded entertainment options, to downtown upgrades and express toll lanes.

Overland Park, Kansas, is far from stagnant. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Though the city is known for providing its residents with a high quality of life, it is always looking for ways to make it even better. This can come in many forms, from new initiatives to community events to everything in between, but one that’s probably the easiest to see come to fruition is its developments. Several improvement projects are underway in the region, and many are related to entertainment to accommodate the city’s growing population.

“Our entertainment industry is growing right along with the population,” says Libbey Tucker, senior vice president of economic development for the Overland Park Chamber. “One of the newest entertainment options is the Bluhawk development off U.S. Highway 69.”

Bluhawk Development Adds Shops, Restaurants

Bluhawk is a retail and dining destination anchored by AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk, which opened in October 2024 and is expected to attract more than 3.5 million visitors annually for various basketball, volleyball, soccer and hockey tournaments.

“Also planned to open in 2026 is The Boundary at Bluhawk, which will feature a walkable main-street feel,” Tucker says. “The Boundary at Bluhawk will have additional retail and entertainment spots along with outdoor gathering spaces for concerts and other events.”…
