Colorado man sentenced for fentanyl trafficking, illegally possessing firearms in Nixa

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A federal judge in Springfield sentenced a man from Denver, Colorado, to 20 years in prison on Tuesday for trafficking fentanyl after being arrested in Nixa in 2024.

Jason S. Thompson, 50, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison without parole for possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute, possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of firearms.

Thompson was found guilty on Jan. 6, 2026, following a two-day jury trial, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
