Painted Tree Boutiques abruptly closes all locations: ‘Heartbroken by this outcome’

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE/KARK) – A national marketplace retailer that provided booth space for small businesses and vendors to sell from its stores has shuttered all of its locations, including its Knoxville location, in anticipation of a reported bankruptcy filing.

Painted Tree Boutiques confirmed to Nexstar’s WANE and KARK that all of its stores — totaling more than five dozen from Nevada to Virginia — closed earlier this week. A banner on its website says its final day of business was Tuesday.

“This decision has not come lightly, and it represents the end of a chapter that has meant everything to us,” the company said in a statement.

Describing itself as “an Etsy marketplace and Pinterest catalog come to life,” Painted Tree Boutique first opened in Arkansas in 2015, offering space to local sellers “looking to grow [their] small business.”

The retailer is now reportedly preparing to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, a skincare vendor in Arkansas said earlier this week, citing an email they had received. Vendors were also informed they had only days to retrieve their inventory, KARK reported…
