Woman awaiting sentencing in Omaha forgery case accused of recruiting vulnerable minor

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman earlier this week in connection to forgery.

Rukyia Dean, 50, was arrested Tuesday on one count of second-degree forgery for $1,500 to $4,999, which is a class IV felony. Deputies got a warrant for her arrest on April 3.

The arrest comes as investigators allege Dean recently recruited a vulnerable minor with a known cognitive disability to cash forged checks, according to a release.
