Michael Gabriele still remembers when he first joined the Palos Fire Protection District more than 20 years ago. These days, he’s leading it.
Gabriele, an Orland Park resident, was promoted to fire chief on Jan. 16, 2026, stepping into the department’s top role after years of working his way up through nearly every rank.
He started part time in March 2003 before being hired full time in 2006. Promotions followed over the years, including lieutenant, captain and deputy chief, each bringing new responsibility and perspective.
