A remote-piloted police drone will launch in the French Quarter before the end of the year, the first drone to come out of a program that local leaders hope to expand citywide.
The New Orleans City Council on Thursday in a 4-3 vote approved the New Orleans Police Department’s purchase of the $250,000 drone and docking station, despite opposition from residents and three council members.
Council members Eugene Green, Jason Hughes, Freddie King, and JP Morrell voted to approve the measure, while Matthew Willard, Lesli Harris, and Aimee McCarron voted against it…
