Dead rodents, live cockroaches and a rodent dropping inside a bag of flour caused four Sacramento County restaurants and markets to be shut down last week.
An additional 13 eateries were cited by county health officials for health code violations ranging from mold buildup to a cook wiping their hands on a paper towel from the garbage.

While a yellow placard signals two or more major violations, these are typically corrected or mitigated during the inspection, according to the Sacramento County Retail Food Inspection Guide.
