EAGLE, Idaho (ABC4) — On Wednesday, crews with the Eagle Fire Department and other agencies were dispatched to rescue a cow that fell into an irrigation box.

According to a social media post from Eagle Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a reported animal rescue, and when they arrived on scene, it became obvious that a cow had fallen into an irrigation box and could not get out on its own.

They constructed a mechanical advantage system using rigging and pulleys to lift the cow safely out of the irrigation box, a technique that is often used by rescue crews when they need to vertically lift a load. Fortunately, the animal was not injured.

“Though this type of call is unusual, incidents like this highlight the skills and capabilities of your Eagle firefighters,” the post states. “We are proud to serve you.”
