MEDFORD, Ore — Medford City Council leaders met Wednesday night to discuss a wide range of community topics, including approving a grant for the analysis and engineering of a potential new home for the Eugene Emeralds.
The council discussed setting aside $500,000 for a preliminary study to estimate total costs before any final decisions are made. A major sticking point was how much the Emeralds are willing to contribute.
Medford City Council member Nick Card said, “If they will not put in the cheap money now, they will not put in the expensive money later. I am totally fine with a 50-50 split, but I am not OK with a penny more. I will be happy to vote against this.”…
