A large mixed-use project proposed in Meridian may need some revisions to gain approval.
The Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission recommended denial of an application for an annexation, preliminary plat, and conditional use permit for Syringa Crossing at its meeting on April 2, following the recommendation from city staff. As proposed, the application would annex about 55 acres on the northwest and southwest corners of the intersection of Amity and Meridian roads and would include both residential and commercial areas.
City staff outlined a range of concerns with the application, including a difference of opinion between staff and the applicant, Hawkins Companies, regarding whether to evaluate the project area north and south of Amity Rd. together or separately.
