Judge denies new trial for former St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery

ST. LOUIS – A judge has denied a new trial for former St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery after he was stripped of his elected title in December.

On Friday, Appointed Judge Stephen Ohmer overruled and denied Montgomery’s motion for a new trial after overseeing a weeklong civil removal trial in November.

Missouri’s former Attorney General Andrew Bailey took action to remove Montgomery as sheriff last year, alleging six counts of misconduct. The appointed judge agreed with two of the counts, which was enough to strip Montgomery of his sheriff’s title…
