Cold front heading into Triad expected to bring 20-30 degree drop

(WGHP) — Another unseasonably warm day in the Piedmont Triad with highs reaching the upper 80s this afternoon. Big changes are on the way for the second half of our weekend as a cold front brings a 20°-to-30° temperature drop into Sunday.

Partly cloudy skies Saturday evening with temperatures falling into the 70s after 8 p.m. Cloud cover will continue to increase overnight ahead of the approaching cold front.

We’ll start the early morning hours of Sunday in the low 60s. However, once the front moves in, we’ll see a dip into the mid-50s by the time many of us are awake and heading to church. There’s a chance for spotty showers with the cold front before noon; however, rainfall totals will likely be less than 0.1″. The chance for rain is 30%.

Once the cold front is fully through the Piedmont, we’ll gradually see clearing skies from west to east through the afternoon and evening hours. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s by the afternoon. It’ll also be a little windy with the cold front with northwest winds of 10-15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph possible…
