38 dogs adopted as Austin shelter continues mobilizing to mitigate critical overcrowding

AUSTIN, Texas — Dozens of dogs in Austin’s shelters found new homes or foster placement, this after Austin Animal Services mobilized on Friday to meet an urgent capacity deadline.

According to Austin Pets Alive!, 38 dogs left the city’s shelter Friday to go home with adopters or into foster care. The effort is part of a continued push to move at least 70 dogs out of the shelter by the end of the weekend in order to comply with fire safety regulations that limit capacity.

Volunteers spent Friday assisting Austin Animal Services, greeting visitors, walking dogs and facilitating introductions between animals and potential adopters.
