Illinois man sentenced to 17 years in prison for brutally assaulting ex-girlfriend in Columbia

An Illinois man accused of brutally assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Columbia is sentenced to prison.

Jacob Nichols, 31, of Springfield, Illinois, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree domestic assault, third-degree domestic assault, invasion of privacy, nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images, second-degree domestic assault, and tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution.

Nichols was sentenced to ten years for the first-degree assault charge, four years for the third-degree assault charge, four years for invasion, seven years for dissemination, seven years for second-degree assault, and seven years for tampering…
