Woman Accused of Poisoning Neighbor Over Driveway Dispute

Additional Coverage:

A 75-year-old woman from Southampton, England, has appeared in court accused of poisoning her neighbor with ant killer amid an ongoing dispute over a shared driveway. Sally Beaney faces serious allegations including maliciously administering insecticide to her neighbor with the intent to cause harm or annoyance.

According to court documents, Beaney’s actions were part of a sustained campaign of harassment. She is charged with repeatedly blocking the driveway by parking her car to obstruct access and placing various barriers such as plant pots and wooden structures across the shared path. In addition, she allegedly posted signs accusing the neighbor of intimidating delivery drivers, escalating tensions between the two parties.

The harassment charges cover a period from early August to mid-November 2025 and include accusations of abusive and threatening behavior toward the neighbor and his family, with reports that Beaney made an obscene gesture at them during a walk.

Beaney appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court wearing a black coat and confirmed her identity but did not enter a plea. The poisoning charge, considered more serious, will be handled at the Crown Court. District Judge Anthony Callaway informed her that the case will move forward at that higher level and granted her unconditional bail to attend the next hearing.

Unconditional bail means Beaney is free without restrictions such as curfews or reporting requirements, as the court determined she is not a flight risk nor a danger to the community.

The case highlights how neighborhood disputes can escalate into serious legal matters, with a forthcoming Crown Court hearing set to further examine the allegations against Beaney.
