Authorities have confirmed that the man at the center of a widely shared Opelousas escape is now dead following a multi agency police involved shooting in Lafayette Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, 34 year old Michael Vavasseur of Duson was the asuspect killed during the incident on April 18, 2026.
