Evansville murder suspect trial to start after multiple competency delays

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – An Evansville man accused in a 2018 murder is scheduled to go on trial after being declared not competent to stand trial eight previous times.

Robert Ballard, Jr. is charged in the shooting death of Amanda Weir. Police say Ballard targeted Weir and another woman in a car on Delaware Street.

According to court records, Ballard’s trial is expected to start at 8 a.m…
