INDOT urges drivers to stay alert as construction projects begin statewide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Department of Transportation marked the start of National Work Zone Awareness Week on Monday as construction projects kick off across the Hoosier state.

The state is planning $2.6 billion in transportation infrastructure projects in 2026, according to INDOT Commissioner Lyndsay Quist.

“More than 1,000 projects are planned on state highways, U.S. routes, and interstates,” Quist said. “130 of those aim to improve traffic flow and safety, and over 6,200 lane miles of pavement will be resurfaced or replaced.”…
