Stockade Annie’s monument restored, reset at Greenwood Cemetery

CLARKSVILLE, TN – A historic monument at Greenwood Cemetery has been restored and reset following a major preservation effort. Clarksville Memorial Company, working with Lawson Mabry – a great-nephew of John and Anna Mabry Barr – recently completed what officials described as one of the largest gravestone resets at the cemetery in many years.

The monument honors Barr and his wife, who was known as “Stockade Annie” for her ministry to soldiers at the Fort Campbell stockade, according to a press release. During the restoration process, crews determined the original base of the monument had significantly deteriorated and lacked a stable foundation. A new base was installed, and after weather delays, a crane was used to lift and reposition the large stone.
