A 40-year-old woman is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times Sunday evening along a troubled stretch of southwest Atlanta, according to police.
Atlanta Police Department Zone 4 officers were called around 6:56 p.m. to the 1300 block of Oakland Drive SW, near Campbellton Drive SW, where they found the woman suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was alert, conscious and breathing when medics took her to the hospital, authorities said.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, preliminary investigators said a suspect known to the victim opened fire as she was leaving in a vehicle. The station, citing information from the Atlanta Police Department, reported that the city’s Aggravated Assault Unit has taken the lead on the case. No arrests had been announced as of Monday morning.
