Joplin man pleads guilty to federal gun charges

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Joplin man pleads guilty to federal gun charges.

2023: Two men arrested for allegedly pistol-whipping, robbing teenager in Joplin

Earlier this month, Andrew Reed, 23, pleaded guilty in federal court in Springfield to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. A sentencing date has not been scheduled. Reed has prior convictions in Kansas of battery against and interfering with law enforcement.

On February 15, 2025 Joplin police responded to 5th and Joplin for a report of shots fired. Officers say when they arrived they found several spent shell casings as well as 9mm pistol in the alleyway.

Investigators say security footage from a nearby business showed Reed in the area with the gun. Reed is still charged in Jasper County in connection to this case…
