Man dies in hospital after assault near Colorado Springs shopping center: CSPD

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man died in the hospital from injuries received in an assault near a shopping center off North Academy Boulevard, just north of Woodmen Road, on Sunday night, April 19, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Police reported that at around 10 p.m., the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and American Medical Response paramedics were dispatched to the 7400 block of North Academy Boulevard on reports of a man who had possibly been assaulted. The man was taken to the hospital, and police learned from the hospital at around 11 p.m. that he had died there.

Detectives from the CSPD Homicide Unit took over the investigation. At this time, there is no suspect information.
