(EL PASO COUNTY/PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — A project that involves the installation of reflective yellow backplates to existing traffic signals at more than 50 intersections across Colorado Springs and Pueblo is expected to begin the first week of May, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
“Traffic signal backplates improve visibility by providing higher contrast around the signal heads, making the lights stand out more clearly,” according to CDOT. “They also reduce sun glare and increase signal recognition from a distance, providing motorists with greater reaction times.”
