Akron Children’s Hospital receives $50 million gift; Akron campus to be renamed

AKRON, Ohio – Akron Children’s Hospital on Monday announced it has received a $50 million gift–the largest in the hospital’s history, according to a news release.

Philanthropist Tom Golisano made the unrestricted gift to the hospital. To commemorate Golisano’s generosity, the hospital will rename its Akron Campus the Akron Children’s Golisano Campus.

Akron Children’s will use the funds to develop clinical services in underserved communities throughout Northeast and Southeast Ohio, expand congenital heart and cancer care, improve access to behavioral health services, and launch new programs to boost patient engagement and nursing excellence.
