Seventeen-year-old Holayn Marandu stepped into prom with a shy grin and a little extra bounce in her step, the soft shimmer of chiffon and satin catching the light as classmates leaned in for a closer look. There were hugs, high fives and a steady chorus of “oohs” and “ahhs.”
