BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield City Council is set to hold the first of its two scheduled public hearings for the proposed sewer rate increase during its Wednesday meeting.
The fixed annual sewer rate in Bakersfield since July 1, 2025, has been $247.13. This is collected on the property tax bill for all residential, commercial and industrial customers.

The city is proposing increasing that to $475 per year for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. Then the city would raise fees by $100 each year until the rate reaches $875 annually.
