Owner of Storm Distillery dies from injuries after fiery explosion

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The owner of Storm Distillery has died after suffering injuries in an explosion at the business last week.

David Mohr was among three people who were hospitalized after the blast Friday morning that witnesses said could be heard from a mile away. The explosion sent the distillery in downtown Inverness up in flames, also causing damage to the Hometown Deli next-door.

The distillery shared a statement on social media Tuesday saying that, “Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, [Mohr] has peacefully passed away.”

“We are deeply moved by the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community over the last few days,” the statement read. “Your kindness has been a source of strength for our family.”

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office has been investigating to determine what caused the explosion. As of Tuesday, the cause was still unclear. The condition of the two others injured is also unknown…
