Jackson State students protest over housing concerns

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Students at Jackson State University (JSU) are raising concerns over a growing housing crisis by gathering for a peaceful on-campus protest on Monday.

Dozens of students came together in solidarity, calling attention to what they said is a lack of affordable and available housing. Sophomore Zion Washington said the protest created a space for students to be heard and united.

“They really created a great environment for students to feel heard and get their opinions noticed and recognized by faculty members and really brought together the unity of the students all together on campus,” said Washington.
