HONOLULU (Island News) – A Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) employee was arrested and charged for offenses related to fraud and theft.
On April 8, 2026, Julianne Kaniaupio faced nine criminal charges stemming from the theft of a credit card containing $8,960.11. The Department of Law Enforcement conducted the investigation, which determined that Kaniaupio used her position to steal the card from the out-processing paperwork of an inmate scheduled for release from Halawa Correctional Facility. She subsequently used the stolen credit card to withdraw $500 in cash before the card was deactivated.
Kaniaupio was charged with Fraud, two counts of Official Misconduct, Credit Card Theft, Fraudulent Use of Credit Card, Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information, Attempted Theft in the Second Degree, Identity Theft in the Third Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree…
