Alabama agriculture commissioner says peaches are coming after March cold snap caused substantial damage

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The mid-March cold snap after unseasonably warm weather has had a substantial impact on Chilton County’s early peaches, according to Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate.

It will be a couple of weeks before his office has any official numbers. CBS 42 met with Scott Penton of Penton Farms in Chilton County on Tuesday evening. Penton is one of the largest peach farmers in Alabama.
