What to Know
- Earth Day is April 22
- Metro buses and rail, along with Micro and @bikemetro, will be free from 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 through Thursday, April 23
- Metrolink is going “fare-free” Wednesday, April 22 (note that San Diego MTS buses and trolley will not be fare-free)
While Metro and Metrolink aren’t covered in festive decorations at various points in the year, you can often sense what the occasion or holiday is by what’s happening on the trains.
If Metro-riding fans sporting Dodger regalia are out and about in play-ball splendor, chances are good that it might be Opening Day or another spring or summer game at Dodger Stadium. If Santa is waving from a Metrolink platform, you might be boarding one of the service’s special holiday adventures in December.
And if both Metro and Metrolink are waiving fares at the same time, and flowers along the tracks are blooming and the air is April-sweet, it just might be Earth Day…
