The Hopkins School Board has selected Michael Thomas as the district’s new superintendent.
Thomas is currently superintendent of Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools. He will replace current Superintendent Rhoda Mhiripiri-Reed, who announced plans not to renew her contract in December 2025.
“I am truly honored to be selected as the next superintendent of Hopkins Public Schools,” Thomas said in a district-issued statement. “Having long admired the district, I have great respect for its strong foundation, its commitment to ensuring every student feels a sense of belonging, and the pride this community has in its schools. I look forward to listening, learning, and partnering with the Hopkins community to build on that foundation by strengthening academic outcomes, fostering a culture where each student and staff member feels they matter, and ensuring that systems and resources are aligned to support long-term success for all learners.”…
