ADOC cancels billion-dollar healthcare contract with YesCare, selects Birmingham company

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama Department of Corrections has canceled a billion-dollar contract with healthcare provider YesCare and selected Birmingham-based NaphCare to provide comprehensive medical care in ADOC facilities.

WBRC 6 News reported earlier this month that YesCare was late in paying hundreds of employees.

At the time, ADOC and Gov. Kay Ivey’s office said it was working with YesCare to prevent something similar from happening again, however, during a Prison Oversight Committee meeting on April 22, ADOC revealed it terminated its contract with YesCare and signed an emergency contract with NaphCare.
