Landlord files liens against Pihakis Restaurant Group as Alabama company charts new path forward following closures

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — As a Birmingham-based restaurant company is attempting to move forward following different businesses it has closed over the last couple of weeks, it is also facing liens worth thousands of dollars from a landlord claiming they are behind on rent.

According to the Jefferson County Probate Office, Mike Mouron filed different liens against Pihakis Restaurant Group on April 15, claiming that the business owes rent on its different properties. This came days after the group, started by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q co-founder Nick Pihakis in 2014, closed Tasty Town, as well as two Hero Diner locations in Hoover and Trussville.

First reported by Birmingham Business Journal, Mouron filed liens through several different companies of his, including one for $72,065.56 for the Hero Doughnuts & Buns and Luca Lagotto locations in Homewood, $36,090.50 for the Rodney Scott’s BBQ in Homewood, $31,042.98 for the Little Donkey in Homewood and $41,666.66 for the Joyland property in Birmingham’s Avondale neighborhood.

The BBJ reports that the largest lien Mouron filed against PRG was for $160,000 regarding the groups Valley Post development near Chelsea, which features Rodney Scott’s BBQ, Hero Diner, Little Donkey and Luca & Lucy…
