BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — The final phase of demolition is underway at Southtown Court Apartments, bringing down the last buildings at one of Birmingham’s oldest public housing communities.
Crews are removing the remaining 88 units at the site near University Boulevard and 24th Street South. The complex, built in 1941, has housed generations of families for more than 80 years.
