California’s chain restaurants are in a rough stretch, and the Tri-Valley is taking direct hits. Here’s what’s actually closed or closing within driving distance of San Ramon, and what’s behind it.
1. Starbucks — 6000 Bollinger Canyon Rd– Impact: The flagship San Ramon store at City Center Bishop Ranch closed Sept. 27, 2025, along with two Danville Starbucks (398 Hartz Ave. and 11000 Crow Canyon Rd.).
– Reason: Part of CEO Brian Niccol’s $1B “Back to Starbucks” restructuring. Philz and Joe & the Juice are still in the center.
2. Peet’s Coffee — 11000 Bollinger Canyon Rd
