Seven sentenced in Orlando gun trafficking scheme

ORLANDO, Florida — Seven individuals involved in a gun trafficking operation have been sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Roy B. Dalton, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.

Victor Manuel LaFontaine Ruiz, a 32-year-old from Poinciana, was sentenced to 17 years and 4 months for gun trafficking conspiracy and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Jose Emanuel Maldonado Rodriguez, a 33-year-old from Kissimmee, received 5 years and 6 months for gun trafficking conspiracy and possession of a machinegun. Freddie Geovani Cruz Batiz, a 37-year-old from Kissimmee, was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months for similar charges.

Jomar Manuel Lopez Montanez, a 31-year-old from Kissimmee, was sentenced to 7 years and 8 months for gun trafficking conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Derrick Yamil Rivera Robles, a 30-year-old from Kissimmee, received 3 years and 10 months for gun trafficking conspiracy, unlicensed gun dealing, aiding and abetting, and possession of a machinegun.
