Mobile men charged in fatal shooting hear testimony against them – then come to blows

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Three men charged with felony murder listened to testimony against them Wednesday and then came to blows as law enforcement officers were escorting them to a lockup area in the courthouse.

Loud shouting and the sounds of a physical altercation could be heard from the other side of a wall separating the courtroom from where prisoners enter. Additional courthouse police officers quickly went back to break up the fisticuffs.

The outbreak occurred after Mobile police Detective Joshua Smith testified at a preliminary hearing that surveillance video from a nearby convenience store, eyewitnesses and the defendants’ own statements largely corroborate one another…
