ASHBURN, Va. (DC News Now) — Deputies arrested two people for an attempted jewelry robbery in Ashburn on Tuesday.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said it had been investigating eight different incidents over the past month where victims would report having their jewelry stolen. The suspects would use “distraction techniques” and then remove jewelry from their victims.
As a result, Denisa Ghiocel, 31, and Dorel Ghiocel, 35, were arrested. LCSO said they are undocumented Romanians with active ICE detainers. The pair is believed to be connected to one or more of these incidents, which are part of a broader criminal network happening around the region.
