ANN ARBOR, MI — What started as a visit to the University of Michigan’s psychiatric unit for her son in March 2025 allegedly turned into what Ypsilanti resident Denecia Jenelle Charles said was an assault by campus security officers.
Charles, 34, is now suing the Ann Arbor university for allegedly withholding footage of the incident at the UM Psychiatric Emergency Service, 1500 E. Medical Center Drive, that took place over a year ago.
