‘Good Trouble March’ protests PFAS contamination near landfill

ST. PAULS — More than 80 people participated in a “Good Trouble March” last Saturday to protest PFAS contamination in the area surrounding the Robeson County Landfill near St. Pauls.

The event was sponsored by the Lumberton Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. It began at the residence of organizer Viv Tolson Wayne, at a location on Britt Road near the landfill entrance, and included a march to the landfill gate and back.

“We gathered together, we said a prayer and a scripture, and we had a few guests and they spoke,” Tolson Wayne said. “Then we gathered up and marched across the road (to the landfill gate).”…
