The Shafter Cotton Research Station, a California Historical Landmark under the ownership of Kern County, may get a new life as California State University, Bakersfield explores acquiring the research complex.
While no formal announcement has been made, CSUB senior director of strategic communications Jennifer Self confirmed that the university is actively exploring opportunities to acquire the property or partner in its use.
