Utah family stranded in Boston after premature birth during marathon trip

LEHI, Utah (KUTV) — A Lehi family has been stranded across the country after an unexpected early delivery. Derek and Amber Bonney were in Boston for the Boston Marathon when Amber went into labor 10 weeks early.

The baby was admitted to the NICU and has been doing well. Because he cannot be transferred back to Utah for some time, the family has had to find a way to live in Boston for the foreseeable future.

The Boston Marathon brings in runners from all over, including Lehi. But Skyridge High School teacher Derek Bonney’s route to the race took a detour shortly after he and his family arrived…
