Former Huntington University coach faces potential revoked probation

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) — A former Huntington University cross-country and track coach convicted of sexual battery is facing the possibility of having his probation revoked after prosecutors filed a petition alleging he violated the terms of his sentence.

Court records show Nicholas Johnson has been ordered to appear in Huntington County court for a probation violation hearing. The petition claims Johnson failed to comply with required conditions, including participation in a sex offender treatment program and completing a polygraph test.

Johnson was found guilty in September 2024 of sexual battery following a two-day jury trial. The conviction stemmed from a July 2020 incident involving a former student-athlete, where prosecutors said Johnson abused his position of authority during what was described as a “treatment” or massage.

In October 2024, a judge sentenced Johnson to one year of incarceration followed by one year of probation. As part of that sentence, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years and comply with the conditions of his probation.
