Mexican who overstayed VISA apprehended on Florida Turnpike in Lake County

A Tavares man was taken into custody after a check of his immigration status revealed that he showed a trooper a false ID.

A trooper arrived at a traffic stop at Mile Marker 294 on the Florida Turnpike in Groveland around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Following an immigration check, all four occupants, including 27-year-old Julio Perez Hernandez, were detained.
