CHICAGO (WGN) — The Ford City Mall will stay open for at least a few more weeks.
A Cook County judge could have ordered the mall closed immediately, but instead agreed to push back the hearing until Friday, May 15. The move allows the remaining 16 tenants to operate their businesses as normal.
The longstanding mall faces safety hazards that the city of Chicago believes could lead to catastrophic structural failure, prompting its potential closure.
