Seattle doubles safety ambassadors in CID ahead of World Cup

SEATTLE — Seattle is expanding a community safety program in the Chinatown-International District, adding more on-the-ground support in response to ongoing concerns from businesses and residents.

The city is investing additional resources into its Safety Ambassadors Program, which launched in June and places trained staff in bright yellow vests throughout the neighborhood. Ambassadors currently patrol daily from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., focusing on de-escalation, cleaning, reporting issues and connecting people to social services.
