Mac’s Drive Thru to premiere documentary on former employee

Gainesville burger joint Mac’s Drive-Thru is premiering an award-winning documentary featuring former employee Sighle Williams’ last day behind the register after 37 years.

The free showing of “One Last Order” for the community will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Bo Diddley Plaza (111 E University Ave.). The Browns will provide live R&B music and Mac’s will serve up burgers from a food truck on site.

“We’re very excited,” said Mac’s owner, Ron DeFilippo. “We’re opening another Mac’s and using this to springboard that.” -Williams retired as Mac’s last longest serving employee in October 2024 after decades of working alongside the drive-thru’s original McMillan family founders and owners.
