Bald Eagle sightings increase around Louisville with reports of population growth

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Fish and Wildlife reports a record high in Kentucky’s bald eagle population. People are seeing the increase around Louisville.

Christina Norris lives next to the Ohio River near Twelve Mile Island. She said it’s not uncommon for the birds to follow her while she swims and fishes around the neighborhood.

“Thirty-five years ago, I would never have seen an eagle, and then I had two sitting in the trees off my deck, 25 feet away,” Norris said. “Whatever Kentucky has been doing with respect to the environment, I feel like the ecosystem along the river is really coming back very strongly.”
