(KRON) — A worker who was stuck 75 feet up in the air in a palm tree Friday morning was extricated successfully in a dramatic helicopter rescue. Rescue crews in San Jose had attempted to reach a worker who was experiencing a medical emergency while up in the palm tree. The San Jose Fire Department responded the scene in the 2900 block of Sunburst Drive at 10:10 a.m.

A Cal Fire helicopter was later summoned to the scene. The worker was extricated from the tree and lowered safely to the ground, SJFD said (watch the dramatic rescue in the video above).
The worker was cutting the tree when they experienced the emergency. Traffic on Sunburst is closed and people are being advised to avoid the area.
The patient is being transported to the hospital in serious condition, SJFD said.
